Permission Denied Errors
Problem
You see the error message:
⛔️ Permission Denied: Unauthorised! User email does not have access to this Report/Data source in team TeamName
This happens when you try to open a Two Minute Reports connector or access a report/data source that belongs to a different team.
Why This Happens
In Two Minute Reports, each team maintains separate ownership of its resources. When a user first opens TMR in a report or creates a data source, their team gains ownership of that resource. If you try to access a resource created by a different team (even if it's in a shared report), you'll see a permission denied error.
| Resource | Owned by | Shared with |
|---|---|---|
| Data Sources | The team that created them | Only team members |
| Queries | The team that created them | Only team members |
| Reports & Schedules | The team that created them | Only team members |
| Looker Studio Reports | The Google account that created them | Anyone with Looker Studio share link |
The key distinction: a Looker Studio report can be shared with anyone, but the underlying TMR data source is still owned by the team that created it — and only members of that team can use it.
Common Scenarios
Scenario 1: You're trying to access a report that was created by someone in a different team, and you're not a member of that team.
Scenario 2: You have multiple accounts or teams in Two Minute Reports, and you're logged into the wrong one.
Scenario 3: You were recently added to a team, but the report/data source was created before you were added.
Solutions
Solution 1: Verify Your Login Email
Check that you're logged into the correct Google/Looker Studio account.
- Open your account settings in Google or Looker Studio
- Verify the email address associated with your current login
- If it's incorrect, sign out from Gmail/Looker Studio and sign back in with the correct email address
- Refresh your report in Looker Studio and try accessing TMR again
Solution 2: Ask the Team Owner to Add You
If you need access to a report/data source created by another team:
- Contact the owner of the team that created the resource
- Ask them to add you as a member through the Accounts Portal at hub.twominutereports.com
- Have them:
- Select Google Sheets → Team name → Subscription
- Scroll to the Teams section
- Click the + User button
- Enter your email address (the one you use to log into Looker Studio)
- Select an appropriate role (Viewer or Editor for spreadsheet access, Manage for account access)
- Click OK
- Once you're added to the team, refresh your report and try accessing the data source again
Solution 3: Consolidate Multiple Accounts
If you have multiple Two Minute Reports accounts and want to consolidate them:
- Identify which account you want to keep as your primary account
- Contact [email protected] and request to migrate your data sources, queries, and schedules from your old account to your new account
- Our support team will guide you through the migration process
Prevention
For Team Owners: When creating reports or data sources, ensure all team members who need access are added to your team through the Accounts Portal before sharing the report or data source with them.
For Team Members: Always verify you're using the same email address for your Google/Looker Studio account and your Two Minute Reports team membership.
